Roasted chickpeas are my answer to the afternoon snacking urge - properly crunchy and so much better for you than chips. The air fryer crisps them more reliably than the oven; just dry them well and season after, or the spices catch.

How to air fry roasted chickpeas

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C).
  2. Add the fresh roasted chickpeas to the basket. Shake every 5 minutes.
  3. Cook for about 15 minutes, flipping or shaking halfway through.

Pro tip

Dry them completely before seasoning for maximum crunch.

How to tell when it's done

They're done when they rattle around dry and crisp right through the middle, not just the outside - I always bite one to check. A few shakes along the way, and don't be alarmed when a few pop as they crisp.

Converting from an oven recipe

If your recipe is written for a conventional oven, lower the temperature by about 25°F (15°C) and reduce the time by roughly 20% to land near 380°F for 15 minutes. Need a different starting point? Use the conversion calculator.
